As the new CEO of the Dallas Mavericks in 2019, Cynt Marshall set out to make one thing clear to everyone at the organization: that their voices mattered.

It was a powerful message from the NBA's first black female CEO and different from the employee experience before her tenure. From meeting one-on-one with every employee in the first 90 days to spending the next year building up diversity in key roles at the Mavericks, the goal was to empower people.
